Map of the Eden Wine Route

Located at the Southern tip of Africa, on the edge of the Western Cape province, lies the municipal districts of Hessequa (which includes Riversdale, Stilbaai and Heidelberg), Mossel Bay, and the municipalities of George and Knysna. This area makes up the recently founded, Eden Wine Route.

The Garden Route District Municipality (previously known as the Eden District Municipality) includes the above municipalities as well as Kannaland (Calitzdorp, Ladismith), Oudtshoorn and Bitou (Plettenberg Bay), with more than 50 wine farms and distillers located in this area.
Even though the existing Plett and Klein Karoo wine routes are not officially part of the Eden Wine Route, we include them in our marketing efforts as part of our mission to promote this area as the ultimate wine destination.

Eden Wine Route encompasses the very best that this district has to offer and we aim to market wines from the entire area nationally as well as internationally. From unique Karoo landscapes, fynbos and mountain ranges, to Knysna’s indigenous forests and the white sandy beaches of Mossel Bay – Eden Wine Route’s wine tours will allow visitors to explore the Garden Route’s hidden gems.

Perhaps not as well know as it’s more popular counterparts to the west, the Eden Wine Route is home to a myriad wine farms, from boutique family-owned estates, to bigger more well known wineries. It is also home to gin distilleries, olive estates, ostrich farms and countless other culinary destinations.

From the dry Karoo with it’s uniquely captivating beauty, to the coastal area of Mossel Bay and the enchanting forest areas of the Bitou district, the Eden Wine Route will take you on a journey of your senses and culinary experience as diverse as the areas it encompass.
